Final Project
Market Harborough, although a traditional market town has been struggling in the last century with redundancies and gentrification due to the closures of Symington factory and the failure of the Joules business.
The Kalypto aims to mitigate these economic crippling factors and revitalise the dying industry while maintaining the sustainable ideals of the 21st-Century shopper.
Keeping with the traditional fashion industries of Market Harborough, the old Dainite factory has been celebrated and given a new purpose through the growth and manufacture of ‘Eucalyptus Woven Fabric’ garments.
The Kalypto is a beacon for both traditional industry and craftsmanship while championing sustainability for the modern consumer.
From October 2021 to September 2022 I conducted a work placement at Briffa Phillips Architects based in St Albans.
